68-year-old female with invasive carcinoma of no special type in the left breast. Mammography (top left) shows a highly suspicious spiculated mass with associated, partially fine-linear calcifications. On ultrasound (top right) the lesion corresponds to an irregular mass with indistinct margins and posterior acoustic shadowing. Note the broad echogenic peripheral transition zone which should be included in the size measurement to prevent underestimation of tumor size on ultrasound. The lesion is also well seen as irregular enhancing soft-tissue mass with strong tracer uptake on PET-CT (bottom) done for staging purposes.
